3 Idiots—All is very-very well!

While I am still thinking about the title for this review, I would rather start writing whatever I have to say about the movie “3 idiots”. Finally the wait is over and the frenzy returns and that too with a big bang. It is a classic example of movie making at its vintage best. Congratulations to Rajkumar Hirani, Vidhu Vinod Chopra & the entire team of 3 idiots as it is going to be no less than a blockbuster (at least that’s what I feel). And of course Aamir has done it again by delighting viewers with an absolute gem. Apparently, one would now be able to figure out why Raju had Aamir in mind while he was still conceptualizing the movie. Big thanks to Mr. Chetan Bhagat for his book (Five Point Someone) becoming the base for a movie that is going to have an everlasting appeal. I had read an article by Mr. Bhagat on TOI’s edit page a few days back that emphasized on the importance of the reforms in the current education system of our country. It was great to see him carrying forward...

Sachin Tendulkar—A living legend; an inspiration to the billions.

First of all I would like to extend my heartiest congratulations to Sachin for completing 20 years in international cricket—rare feet indeed. It speaks volumes about the sound character & determination he has exuded so far to carve out the most phenomenal career in the history of world cricket. I will not hesitate in putting him on a pedestal for a simple reason that he deserves it. His bat has done most of the talking in his career and has always defied any negative speculations about it. His recent charismatic hundred against Australia (175) is a clear indication that the master is still on a mission that can only be put to halt with his own permission. So let’s continue enjoying whatever the master has to offer in times to come. Even when the whole country is celebrating the master’s journey, Sachin remains grounded and deals all the attention with humility, poise & calmness. His composure and integrity is unmatched and certainly a distinguishing factor that has culminated...

Kaminey is worth watching.

I must mention that it seemed like the biggest opening this year while I went to watch the movie on Saturday, 15th of August in my favourite theatre in New Delhi. The enthusiasm of the crowd was quite heartening to see. It was even more special as they are generally very circumspect while going out on the Independence Day. The situation appeared to be even scarier because of the swine flu terror with the news of the film release being postponed in some areas of the country. People were out to enjoy the movie despite all these; perhaps they wanted the feeling of true freedom sink in and enjoy the eternal moment of now. Not to forget that this was hugely support by the weather gods as it was rather pleasant after a heavy spell of hot and humid weather (most exhausting in the times I can remember). I was feeling great as I waited eagerly to watch the much awaited flick by Vishal Bhardwaj. My admiration for Shahid Kapoor has grown many folds in the past couple of years and hence, had a l...

Law of Attraction

I have been contemplating on maintaining a daily/weekly handwritten journal lately and in my attempt to do so I wrote the following on 07/03/2009 (01.50 AM). I also plan to put the ones I would like to share on my blogs. Perhaps it may turn out to be a good way of being regular in writing. So here it goes: "For That Healing Touch, Keep A Daily journal"-- was the title of today's speaking tree in TOI's N.Delhi edition. It emphasized on the importance of penning down our day to day thoughts. This, according to the article, helped in the spiritual evolution of human beings. Not going further into the details, I would like to come to the point of much talked about law of attraction/process of creation/mechanism of manifestation; whatever name given to it by the spiritual gurus. I had actually been thinking about writing my diary capturing my prominent thoughts and happenings in day to day life. And while reading the above mentioned piece, I again thought about getting a d...
